A commemorative event dedicated to the 36th anniversary of the Black January tragedy was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Hungary
A commemorative event dedicated to the 36th anniversary of the 20 January 1990 tragedy was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Hungary.
Representatives of the Azerbaijan House in Hungary, the “Azerbaijan–Hungary Alumni” Public Association and members of the Azerbaijani diaspora took part in the event.
As a sign of respect for the memory of the victims of the tragedy, flower wreaths were laid in front of a specially created memorial corner and the cherished memory of martyrs was honored with a one-minute moment of silence.
Ambassador Tahir Taghizade noted that the January 20 tragedy has entered the history of the Azerbaijani people as both a sorrowful and a heroic page, becoming a symbol of the struggle for independence and freedom. He emphasized the exceptional services of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in bringing the January 20 tragedy to the attention of the international community and in giving political and legal assessment to this bloody event.
T. Taghizade also spoke about the Victory achieved by the strong Azerbaijani Army in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of President, Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, stating that this Victory is the triumph of the ideals for which were fought by all our heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the Motherland.
