The awarding ceremony of the essay competition "What I know about Azerbaijan" was held in the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Hungary
On February 9, 2018 the awarding ceremony of the essay competition "What I know about Azerbaijan" was organized in the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Hungary.
The local and foreign students studying in Hungary participated in the competition implemented with the initiative of the "Azerbaijan Youth Foundation" and the Embassy's support.
In the event, which started with a demonstration of a short documentary about Azerbaijan, the Counsellor of the Embassy Zaur Shukurov gave a general overview of the contest and noted that these kinds of competitions are the opportunities to learn the reality of modern Azerbaijan, its ancient and rich history, culture, traditions, cuisine and beautiful nature. Z.Shukurov expressed his hopes that the local and foreign students, studying in Hungary, will take an active part in such events, regularly organized by the Embassy.
Later, the project manager of the competition, the student of Budapest Business School Khavar Alakbarli gave detailed information about the competition and made a presentation about Azerbaijan. During the presentation K.Alakbarli spoke on the ancient history, culture, art, tourism, national cuisine of Azerbaijan, as well as brought an attention of quests to the fact of occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan – Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts by Armenia.
At the end of the ceremony Bedrettin Gurcan, the student of the Budapest Business School, was announced as the winner of the contest and was awarded with a weekly travel package to Azerbaijan. The second place was awarded to Szilvia Simon Erika, the student of the National University of Public Service, and voucher of “WizzAir” airlines was presented to her as well. Various gifts and certificates were also presented to the other participants of the contest.
